National beer mile
Saturday, August 29th at Meehan’s Atlantic Station
Compete with your friends to accomplish the impossible- 4 beers in one mile! Between each lap on a ¼ mile track, participants must finish a cold beer. You can choose between two start times- 11:00 am or 1:00 pm.
After the race, all 2,000 runners can celebrate victory at an after party at Meehan’s Public house (at Atlantic Station)- complete with bar games, food and drink specials, and music from Atlanta DJs. This event is 21+. -$50
Cork Pullers Beer & Wine Festival
Saturday, August 29th at Candler Park
Celebrate the 21st amendment with Cork Pullers! One ticket is good for unlimited samples of all the beers, wines, and spirits on display. Tastings will feature a mix of local and national labels.
Food trucks will satisfy any appetite you work up- the event will have Angelfire7 BBQ, Bento Bus, Pop Dog Atlanta, The Mobile Marlay, Philly Connection, The French Truck, King of Pops, and several others in attendance. You can also hear live music all day from local bands, including The Halem Albright Band, Hot Sauce & Honey, The UpSide, and Brit La Palm & the Barrel Fever. This event is 21+. -$45
Foxeria del Sol
Sunday, August 30th at Taqueria del Sol (Howell Mill)
Celebrate the annual shipment of Chiles from New Mexico with an all-out chile menu from Chefs Eddie Hernandez (Taqueria del Sol) and Jonathan and Justin Fox (Fox Bros BBQ)! They will be feature a unique menu with a wide variety of chile-related foods. Try the pork & hatch chile tamales, hatch chile fried mac & cheese, green chile icees, green chile brownies, and much more!
No block party is complete without music- Moontower will be playing live. All proceeds from the event will support Hogs for the Cause, which funds pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States. Tickets include unlimited food samples. -$25
Sunday, August 30th at Belle Isle Square
Witness the second annual “Battle of the Balls”, where Atlanta restaurants will compete to serve up the best pork, lamb, chicken, and seafood meatballs. Limoncello tastings and dessert samples are also included, while wine and beer will be available for purchase. At the event, you’ll hear music from DJ MadFlip.
This year, there are 23 fierce competitors vying for your vote, including Rosebud, Salt Yard, 4th & Swift, Davio’s, and Table & Main. After tasting the creations, you can cast your vote for the best ball and determine who will move on to the finals at Taste of Atlanta.
The event will benefit Second Helpings Atlanta, which supplies unsold food to those in need from restaurants, schools, farmers' markets, and other donors. -$25
